Ready to close your LearnCastAI account? We make it easy — and are transparent about what happens to your data. The deletion is immediate and irreversible, so it's important to know the process before clicking the button.
You'll find the delete function in your profile under "Account → Delete account". An active subscription must be cancelled first — we explain every step.

What you need to know before deleting
These three points cause the most support questions.
Everything is deleted immediately
When you click "Delete account", all your podcasts, audiobooks, flashcards, tutor chats, uploads and quiz results are removed irreversibly.
Download anything you want to keep beforehand — there is no way to restore anything after deletion.
Cancel active subscription first
An active subscription blocks deletion. You must first cancel your subscription under /subscription before you can delete your account.
After cancelling, you can either use the remaining paid period or delete right away — your choice.
Invoices remain stored
Your account data is deleted, but invoices already issued are archived by law for 10 years (German Commercial Code, HGB).
The invoices are pseudonymised and no longer linked to your profile. Identification in daily operations is not possible.
Delete your account safely in 3 steps
Please follow the steps in this order — especially step 1 matters if you have an active subscription.
Cancel subscription (if active)
Open /subscription and click "Cancel subscription". Your access remains until the end of the billing cycle.
Without an active subscription you can skip this step and go directly to step 2.
Open profile and confirm
Go to Profile → Account → Delete account. You'll be asked for your password — a security check against accidental deletion.
Afterwards you'll see a final warning listing exactly what will be deleted. Read it carefully before confirming.
Receive confirmation
Your account and all associated content are deleted immediately. You receive an email confirmation as proof.
Within 30 days we also remove your data from backups and all connected systems (GDPR Art. 17).
What happens during deletion — fully transparent
We follow GDPR strictly and show you exactly what happens to your data.
Immediate deletion
Upon confirmation, all active data is removed from our production database without delay.
Password confirmation
To prevent accidental or unauthorised deletion, we require your password as a final security step.
All content gone
Podcasts, audiobooks, flashcards, tutor chats, uploads and quiz results — all deleted. No restoration possible.
Invoices: 10 years HGB
Issued invoices remain stored pseudonymised — required by law, with no link to your profile.
Backups: 30 days
Removal from all backups and subsidiary systems happens within 30 days at the latest — per GDPR Art. 17.

Delete your LearnCastAI account — GDPR-compliant in under two minutes
Your LearnCastAI account belongs to you. If you no longer want to use it, you can delete it yourself at any time — no questions asked. You'll find the function in your profile under "Account → Delete account". To prevent misuse or accidental deletion, you confirm the action with your password. After that, your account is irreversibly removed — including all podcasts, audiobooks, flashcards, tutor chats, uploads and quiz results you created. We don't archive your content; what is gone is gone.
What to check before deletion
If you have an active subscription, you must first cancel it under /subscription. An active subscription blocks account deletion so that no paid access disappears by mistake. After cancelling, you can either use the remaining paid period or delete your account right away. Also important: all your content disappears with the account. If you want to keep podcasts, audiobooks or summaries, download them beforehand. After confirmation there is no way back — we can't restore data technically either.
What happens to your data after deletion
We strictly follow GDPR: your personal data is removed from our production database immediately. Within 30 days it also disappears from all backups and connected third-party systems (mail service, Stripe reference, log data). One exception: invoices. Under German Commercial Code § 147 HGB, we are legally required to retain invoice documents for 10 years. These are pseudonymised after deletion — your email and name are replaced with an internal ID, making identification in daily operations impossible. If you need an explicit deletion certificate, send us a short email after deletion; we'll confirm in writing.
With LearnCastAI account deletion, you stay in control of your data at any time. If you later want to return, you can create a new account with the same email — without your old content, of course. If you have questions, our support team is there for you.
